All Handshake customers can now upload simple quantity-based discounts (sometimes known as quantity price breaks or volume-based discounts). Quantity discounts are represented by adding two columns to a pricing spreadsheet; the first represents the break (the point at which the new price is applied) and the second represents the new price. If your products have multiple break points where new prices kick in, you will need to add two additional columns per break point. The screenshot below shows an example of a pricing spreadsheet where products have 2 breaks; a new price is applied at 2 units (columns E and F), and then again at 4 units (columns G and H).
Top Use Cases
The most common use case for quantity discounts is to offer a reduced price as a customer orders more of a given product.Creating Quantity Discounts for Base Unit Prices
When referring to the base unit price, this refers to the unitPrice of your products on your product spreadsheet. This price is NOT tied to, or specific to, a particular customer group, customer specific price list, or manufacturer specific price list. Information on how to set Quantity Discounts on those more specific price lists can be found here.To start, export your products spreadsheet from the bulk import/export page of Handshake Hub.
On the spreadsheet you'll want to add a column called Quantity Break:1 (representing the quantity at which the first discount will be achieved) and Price Break:1 (representing the price off the corresponding SKU once Break 1 is reached). In our example below we've set it up so that the Golf Clubs will be discounted to 269.99 (Price Break:1) from 299.99 (unitPrice) when 8 or more units (Quantity Break:1) are added to the cart when composing an order. We've applied a similar quantity discount to the ping pong set where once a minimum of 10 units (Quantity Break:1) are added to an order, the price per unit will drop from 29.99 (unitPrice) to 24.99 (Price Break:1).
Once the columns containing quantity price break information are created, save your work and import your spreadsheet via the Products bulk importer on Handshake Hub. Once you've reached the mapping screen it's important that you map the quantity discounts in the order you want them to be applied. The break and price combination mapped as Quantity Break:1 and Price Break:1 will be checked and applied first.
If you want to included additional quantity discounts for your products, you can add subsequent columns such as Quantity Break:2 and Price Break:2, Quantity Break:3 and Price Break:3, and so on as your pricing structure and catalog requires. Keep in mind that you can map up to 17 total break/price combinations via our bulk importer. If your catalog requires additional price breaks please email our support team who will be happy to assist.

After uploading, will quantity breaks be visible on the product screen? Also, how will my customers know that a quantity discount is available on an item from the list or grid view without clicking on it?
