Product whitelisting is one of Handshakes catalog visibility controls and enables you to take specific products, subcategories, categories, and even entire manufacturer lines and make them available for customers at specified prices. This catalog configuration can be set for a specific customer or for a customer group.
Prerequisites
In order to make use of product whitelisting, you'll need to first configure your customer groups. Information on setting up customer groups can be found here. If you want to get even more specific with your product whitelisting capabilities, you can configure this arrangement with advanced pricing as part of Handshake Professional.
Common Use Cases
- Products are only purchased by 1 or 2 customers
- Slight variations by customers in products and prices
How To Set Up Product Whitelisting
After assigning your customers to customer groups, you can start whitelisting products through the products spreadsheet of the bulk importer/exporter.
For the purposes of this example, we've hidden some of the columns on the products spreadsheet so we can focus on the ones needed for product whitelisting. In this instance, we want to make manufacturer line Zen Gifts unavailable for all customers except those in the groups US and UK. Since this is the desired setup, notice how the unitPrice column is filled out with NA for these products, however in the unitPrice:US and unitPrice:UK columns we've inputed their specific prices. Since unitPrice:HVR is left blank, and order written for customers in that group will revert to the unitPrice, which is NA.
