ShipStation is a fulfillment platform that makes it easy to process and print hundreds of labels in a single batch. Print pick lists, packing slips, and labels easily and quickly to either your local printer or any printer in the world!
This integration imports orders from Handshake into ShipStation. It also sends shipment information, like tracking number and link (for popular carriers like FedEx, UPS, and USPS) back to Handshake. The ShipStation integration is completely free with any Handshake Pro account. The only piece of information you need to get started is your API key. All of the configuration takes place within ShipStation, so there is nothing to configure within Handshake.
To get started, you'll need to connect a selling channel within ShipStation. You can do this under Settings --> Selling Channels --> Store Setup, and then clicking "Connect a Store or Marketplace".
Handshake can be set up as a custom store. Search for "Custom Store" and click on the generic icon. You should see this screen:
The configuration values should be entered as follows:
- URL to Custom XML Page: https://app.handshake.com/integration/shipstation/store_api
- Username: the API key for any active administrator on your Handshake account. If you are the admin, you can find this under your user screen.
- Password: X (this is true for everyone; the username is the secure portion of the authentication process). For more information about API authentication, you can view our API documentation.
Next, you'll have to map the statuses from Handshake to statuses in ShipStation. You can map the statuses according to your current business process. The statuses from Handshake that need to be mapped are:
- Hold for confirm
If you choose not to map a status, like "Open", then any orders in this status in Handshake will not be imported to ShipStation. Some suggested default values are listed below:
When you are finished, click "Connect". Your selling channel will immediately start importing orders. You can see it under the Selling Channels icon in the top navigation bar:
That's it! You will see orders appearing in ShipStation after they are written in Handshake, and shipment information will be imported to Handshake from ShipStation.
If you have any other questions about ShipStation functionality, refer to their help documentation.
